The La-Iin Series
“Mission in the Bedroom”
“You know, it’s good to just kick back and relax sometimes. No crazy life-or-death mischief, no scrutinous overexamination of a six-year-old’s mysterious power, just me, my best friend, and some hot chocolate…tell me, why do your parents have hot chocolate?”
“How am I supposed to know? Why did you ask to drink it? It’s still Summer you know.”
“I think it’s been cooling down pretty fast. Or maybe it’s just me. I really want it to be Winter so I can use that scarf you gave me. It’s so nice and soft…I sleep with it sometimes.”
“You are too, San-Kyung. Anyway, all I want to say is that I’m happy to have a day where we hang out like normal teenage boys.”
“It’s nice now and then, you’re right. ….still, I’d like to do a little more than just listen to you drink hot chocolate. And I don’t know about you but I’m getting overheated by sitting here.”
“Sorry. I’m probably giving off lots of body heat.”
“What do you think?”
“I know, I know.” Dosa-Mina rested his head on San-Kyung’s shoulder and took another sip of hot chocolate.
“Now you’re just trying to kill me.”
“Maybe I am. Maybe I’m not.”
“Say, San-Kyung, do you have any ideas for what we might do after I finish this hot chocolate? I’d like to do something normal too, but I have no ideas whatsoever.”
“I don’t know…”
“Any secret locations in the house I could visit? Oh, but I’m sure you would’ve told me about one of those before, right?”
“Right….still, there is one location in the house that’s sort of a secret location, in that I don’t visit it at all.”
“My parent’s bedroom. I don’t go in there.”
“Ooh. Maybe we should. After all, you said they’re on a date, right?”
“Yeah…” San-Kyung rolled his eyes. “Why anyone would want their date to be the way they handle their dates is beyond me. I love them, but they drive me crazy with their love for each other.”
“Without that, you would’ve never been born, so be grateful for it!” Dosa-Mina exclaimed. San-Kyung gagged.
“Wish it wasn’t so annoying…or that they’d waited to have me until October….”
Dosa-Mina pat San-Kyung on the head. “It’s alright. Speaking of, it’ll be October soon…you’ll be happy then, right?”
“I’m looking forward to it too….but La-Iin’s coming along this year, isn’t she.”
“Anyway, about your parent’s bedroom….do you think they’d mind if we snooped around in there?”
“Do you think they’d notice?”
“Not if we’re careful. Though I’m not sure I really want to go in there in the first place.”
“Might be fun!”
“Finish that hot chocolate first. Then we’ll see.”
Dosa-Mina tipped his head back and downed the hot chocolate in only a few gulps. He then started to cough and gag.
“Are you alright!?”
“Yeah, I’m…” He coughed. “I’m fine!”
“So you’re really desperate about snooping in my parent’s bedroom, huh? You know, you could’ve burnt your throat!”
“I think I already burnt my mouth…” Dosa-Mina sighed.
“Fine, we can go and look around in there, so long as you promise me you won’t move anything and that you won’t do anything reckless like splash an almost-full cup of hot chocolate down your throat again.”
“You have my word, San-Kyung.”
San-Kyung rolled his eyes, stood up and head for his parent’s bedroom. Dosa-Mina carefully set the hot chocolate cup down and followed after him.
San-Kyung opened the door. His parent’s bedroom was painted with bright yet dark oranges and purples, with blue stars painted in random areas. A bed, television, book case and desks were the furnishings. Dosa-Mina felt as though there was more room in this room than in San-Kyung’s bedroom.
The furnishings matched with the paint on the wall. Dosa-Mina had to admit it was a well-decorated room.
“Happy?” He said.
“It’s a nice bedroom. Everything’s set up so tidy. I wonder what sorts of movies they have. Their books are open for everyone to see, but the movies aren’t. I wonder if there are any adult movies in there…might not be surprising.”
“You know, pornography, that sort of thing.”
“Do you own any porn, Dosa-Mina?”
Dosa-Mina giggled. “Of course not. And if I’m being honest, I may know very well where babies come from, but I have never seen actual sexual activity….except the beginning of the Vampire mating….and animal sexual activity. The most pornographic thing I own is probably a book on species anatomy. I’d only be interested in it for research purposes, as if I’m being honest I really doubt it’d stimulate me at all!”
“….the way you kept going on makes me think you’re hiding something!”
“Trust me here, San-Kyung. You’ve been in my room before too. If you don’t believe me, look it over next time you come.”
“How do I know you just won’t burn the porn!?”
“We’ll find a way so that you trust me….maybe I should let you look when you take me back home. Anyway, enough about this…have you ever gone in your parent’s closet?”
“Why would I want to do that?”
“Sometimes parents store interesting relics of their past in their closets…”
“I’m sure Mom and Dad would tell me anything I’d want to know about their pasts.”
“You never know though, San-Kyung. Can I look, or are you going to get mad?”
“I won’t be mad. But if you move things around too much, Mom and Dad might be.”
“I won’t move things around too much.” Dosa-Mina opened the closet. “Ooh, a walk-in closet! Come on, San-Kyung, there’s plenty of room!”
San-Kyung walked into the closet. Dosa-Mina smiled and gave a sigh of bliss. San-Kyung glanced around the closet.
“Mom and Dad are a lot messier than I thought…”
“Maybe it’s just ’cause it’s their closet?” Dosa-Mina squeaked. “Ooh, I love this! Normally I don’t get the same kind of thrill you do when we do something bad, but this is exciting!”
“You’re crazy,” San-Kyung sighed. “Next we’re going in your parent’s closet.”
“…never mind…” San-Kyung sighed. His eyes fell to the floor, and he noticed a strange object.
“Looks like a lingerie dress,” Dosa-Mina said. “Kinky.”
“Please don’t say that,” San-Kyung said. He felt his face warm.
“You’re so adorable when you blush, you know that? Anyway, it might not be kinky. Maybe your Mom just likes it and wears it as normal underwear. But then again, who knows?”
“Don’t even joke about that,” San-Kyung said.
“I won’t.” Dosa-Mina looked around at the clothes in the closet.
“You know, San-Kyung….since we’re in here, why don’t we try on some of their clothes?”
“Morbid curiosity. I’m not talking about the lingerie dress. Whatever it was used for, I don’t want it on me. Eugh. I’m sorry, San-Kyung, but being in here, I really want to do something bad, and this is the best I can think of.”
“If this was someone else’s closet, I could set it on fire…”
“Alright, you don’t have to. But I want to.” Dosa-Mina’s smile dropped. “Am I upsetting you, San-Kyung? You seem like you have less patience for me than usual.”
“It’s not you,” he sighed. “Just….I love my parents, but I get disgusted thinking about this kind of stuff…I don’t know.”
“I think that’s pretty natural. Lots of people think it’s disgusting to imagine their parents doing romantic things together…or worse, sexual things,” Dosa-Mina sighed. “It disgusts me with my parents. If I ever needed to watch a Werewolf and a Siren have sex for research purposes, trust me, they would be a Werewolf and a Siren that I don’t know. And I think I’d still be disgusted. I just have a higher tolerance for this sort of stuff because I see it as potential for research mostly, not as anything to be disgusted by or turned on by. I don’t know. But I’m sorry I’m getting you embarrassed, San-Kyung.” He smirked. “Well, only partially sorry. Seeing you blush is worth it any day.”
San-Kyung scoffed. “…anyway, put on their clothes if you want to. But I’d only try the ones on the floor.”
San-Kyung glanced around at the clothes. The temptation was strong to follow in Dosa-Mina’s footsteps, if only for the thrill. He picked up an outfit and started to undress.
“Ta-da! Look, San-Kyung, I’m dressed like your Dad! Geez, does he weigh less than me? These are a little tight. And not really my style. Still, I–San-Kyung?”
San-Kyung’s face was burning more than it had been earlier as he stood there wearing one of his mother’s dresses.
“Wh-wh–” He pitched his voice. “Wha–what do you mean, ‘San-Kyung’? That’s my son’s name…my name is Molshei Del-Kyuus.”
Dosa-Mina’s expression was blank for all of a second before he broke out into laughter so intense that he fell to the floor.
“Oh my God, San-Kyung, that was hilarious!”
“I feel humiliated…” He sighed, returning to his usual voice.
Dosa-Mina stood up and next to San-Kyung. “You think we look just like your Mom and Dad?”
“To do that we’d have to be all over each other…not like your affection isn’t already like that,” he said. “Not to mention, you don’t have orange skin.”
“That’s my detriment. Though I could always change form if you ever wanted to do something silly like this. It’d only be bad if someone asked me to use a power.”
“You’re too much sometimes.”
“Thanks for the compliment!”
San-Kyung looked around the room. “Mom and Dad have some weird clothes…I’ve never even seen some of these outfits before.”
“Makes me wonder about them….maybe it wasn’t wanting a baby that made them have you in March…” Dosa-Mina muttered.
“I want to ask them, but then we’ll get in trouble.”
Before Dosa-Mina could respond, a tone started to play.
“Oh, phone’s ringing.”
“What is it?”
“They said they’d call around this time to let me know they were coming home! If that’s them–”
San-Kyung checked the phone. “It is…”
“We’d better get out of these clothes then!”
Dosa-Mina started to take off Salsh-Era’s suit, while San-Kyung hurriedly threw off his mother’s dress so fast that his underwear went flying with them.
“Um…” To his surprise Dosa-Mina could feel his face warm as it turned bright pink.
San-Kyung retrieved his underwear and hid among the clothes before Dosa-Mina could see. Both boys started to change into their clothes as fast as possible, then ran out the closet.
“We don’t talk about this to Mom and Dad,” he said.
“Definitely not. Now let’s get out of here!”
“We’re home! Did you two have a fun time?”
“Yup!” Dosa-Mina said.
“Nothing much going on here.”
“You two could’ve gone out, you know,” Salsh-Era said, setting down his bag.
“We were fine here. Although I have some questions for–”
San-Kyung cleared his throat.
“What is it?” Del-Kyuus asked.
Remembering what had happened in the closet, Dosa-Mina shook his head. “Er, it’s nothing.”
